Model SKS Series -Lamella Clarifier for Efficient Sedimentation in Compact Units

SKS units consist of a rectangular container with a bottom hopper as a sludge
collection tank. The container is equipped with TUBEdek modules for sedimentation
and drain channels or pipes for effluent, as well as flanges for the inlet,
outlet, and sludge drainage.

Free-standing separators are divided into five sections:
1 Inlet area
2 Thickening and sludge storage zone
3 Separation zone with TUBEdek lamellas
4 Clear water zone with launders
5 Sludge discharge

The inlet takes place via a wide channel in the middle of the container. There the
stream calms, flows downward, and rises again through the lamella packs. If several
SKS units are connected in series, perforated insert pipes distribute the water evenly over
the length. In the separation section, solids settle and slide downward on the slanted
surfaces of the TUBEdek lamellas. There, in the thickening and storage zone, they
accumulate and thicken further. The clear phase flows upward from the separating
section. Above the clear water zone, the drainage takes place via channels with
serrated weirs or via perforated (immersion) pipes. The separated sludge is removed
from the sump of the thickening zone. This needs to be done at regular intervals.

Transport and installation
The dimensions of the SKS lamella clarifier are optimized so that it can be transported
effortlessly on a truck, in a lying position, or in a container. SKS separators are equipped
with lifting eyes that allow unloading and setting up with the aid of a crane.

The heart of the system is inside the container: our TUBEdek lamellas. Numerous, equidistant
sedimentation planes ensure a reliable separation process and provide the system with a
high hydraulic capacity.

TUBEdek’s V-shaped channels support sludge removal. TUBEdek lamella clarifiers have
proven themselves repeatedly in the field, regardless of whether they’re utilized as tank
components or in large-scale systems.
