Monel 400/500 buttweld fitting is a copper-nickel alloy with excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Even at high temperatures and pressures, they have high tensile and yielding strength. Monel 400/500 Fittings contains a variation of elements and has a high proportion of nickel up to 63%, copper for about 34%(max), manganese and iron combined up to 5%.

Monel 400 is a low-strength alloy when annealed, but it can be strengthened using various methods. Type 400 has good weldability and fabricability, as well as high toughness and corrosion resistance. Monel 400 Buttweld Fittings is widely used in marine engineering, chemical and hydrocarbon processing equipment, pharmaceutical equipment, and other industries.

Monel 500 alloy combines with higher tensile strength and toughness than type 400. It also has low permeability and shows non-magnetic properties at suitable temperatures. The addition of aluminum and titanium increases the chances of dimensional stability. It usually finds its application across pump shafts, instruments, doctor blades, propeller shafts, etc. It has a melting point ranges up to 1350ºC. It also has high mechanical and physical properties; after age-hardening, the mechanical properties of Type 500 are enhanced more than three times than 400 at the temperature ranges up to 650ºC.
