Newster - Model PURA LAB - Neutralization for Lab Fluid Waste
The plant is ideally suited for the needs of large centralized laboratories and external treatment plants. It employs a batch treatment process, whereby a volume of laboratory liquid waste is gathered and treated before it is discharged. The tailor made layout depends on both volume and characteristics of the fluid waste. It uses Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP), the so called Fenton process, which involves the generation of hydroxyl radicals, very powerful non-toxic oxidants that react rapidly with most organic compounds. After fluid neutralization, the solid particles precipitate and are separated from the liquid by an innovative mechanical filter. The plant is fully automated and equipped with industry 4.0 instruments. The on-board programmable logic controller (PLC) can be connected to an internet cloud service through a GSM router to carry out remote control of functions from a PC and monitor cycle statistics.
Newster Pura Lab Process
The entire cycle is controlled by a PLC with a touch panel which allows to choose the best setting and program. The cycle starts automatically when the level sensor confirms the complete load of the fluid waste in the collecting tank.
STAGE 1: wastewater loading
Different types of fluid waste are collected in different buffering tanks. A predefined volume of fluid is automatically loaded into the reaction tank after being heated to the required temperature through a dedicated boiler, depending on the layout.
STAGE 2: chemical advanced oxidation phase
The fluid waste is pumped into the reaction tank. The proper quantity of Fenton reagents is added according to the chosen setting. At the end of the reaction, the pH is neutralized and the solid parts (sludge) precipitate. The entire process is controlled by pH and ORP probes.
STAGE 3: sludge separation
The sludge is slowly pumped into two mechanical filters where it dries up while the clarified water is sent to the next stage.
STAGE 4: water filtration
The clarified water is pumped through a mechanical filter for the final clarification and reaches the final tank, where it is possible to take a sample and check the final chemical oxygen demand (COD). The clarified water can be finally and safely be discharged. The final filtration may be improved with a Granular Activated Carbon (GAC ) filter.
PRE-TREATMENT MODULE: Optional Ozone System
The plant may also be equipped with an ozone pre-treatment module, which allows:
- the initial surfactants, nitrates, color reduction;
- the initial COD values reduction;
- the sterilization of fluid waste in a few seconds.
