If you've joined the BioHotel from one of our Start or Grow Labs, we will work with you to link the labs so that they neatly fit with your newly extended workflow.
As a BioHotel member, you'll want to get to know all the perks, such as being able to book into the Automation lab, Diagnostic suite and Imaging Suite with Tissue Culture Lab. We also invite you to bring in and hook up any of your equipment to our IoT sensors, which are monitored by the Lab Operating System, Alfred, allowing you to seamlessly scale your lab operations as your team and protocols develop.
As a biotech startup on your scaling journey, your lab needs to perfectly fit your whole team, as well as every part of your extended workflow. Scale Labs are fitted with three separate, interlinked rooms for conducting parallel protocols in a unidirectional or linear workflow. The labs, although linked, are separated with one-way doors and reinforced by positive and negative air flow to prevent aerosols from flowing in. This is perfect for any kind of PCR test, sequencing protocols using an OxfordNanopore.
You’ll enter the Scale Lab through a dedicated gowning room - a negative air pressured section of the lab where you’ll don a freshly laundered lab coat and shoe coverings. For work that involves sensitive materials, such as tissue culture and PCR, we’ve made sure you can enter each separate lab section via its gowning room to avoid any risk of contamination. This area also houses a glass wash and sanitisation station with a sink, glassware drying rack, managed waste facilities, and additional storage above the sink.
Scale Labs are designed for a range of scientific disciplines across tissue culture, synthetic biology, diagnostics or therapeutics, and we will work with you to create the ideal layout of your lab that houses all the right equipment. We can connect your equipment to our IoT sensors and Lab Operating System for data collection, monitoring and quality control so that you have access to real-time data on your experiments at any time, from anywhere.
Across the three lab spaces, you’ll have 32.8m of bench space to use. Our team will work with you to design your workflow and integrate our modular and adaptable equipment units into the space, which can be adapted in the future as your protocols change and develop.
The large 1400mm x 650mm Trespa tabletops are fitted with a magnetic backboard for storing any accessories and tools, an adjustable equipment shelf with power supply for of your small pieces of equipment (vortexes, mini centrifuges etc), large pull down cabinets where you can keep all of your media, reagents, equipment, consumables and more.
Our labs also have plenty of sockets, which we’ve placed above your workbench to avoid tangled cables.
