The magnets are designed to lift clean, smooth, and flat low-carbon steel plates that are 1.5 inches (38mm) thick or more. If the steel plates are thinner, rusty, or scale-coated, a reduction in lifting capacity is necessary. The lifting capacity is contingent upon full surface contact between the magnet and the steel load.
