ffem - pH Monitoring Test Kit for Water
The ffem pH test kit is designed for rapid assessment of pH levels in water using a colorimetric test with a pH indicator. The reagent generates a color shift in the water sample, which then can be analyzed either using the ffem match Android application or visually via a color card for semi-quantitative results. For precise functioning, users must first calibrate their Android devices, with calibration standards provided within the kit. While this method offers a reasonably accurate means of determining pH, it is not a substitute for certified laboratory tests when determining water safety. The kit includes important chemical reagents, necessitating road shipments that may take 15 to 30 days based on the location. It is important to note that distilled water is required for dilution and calibration, but is not included in the kit.BIS standards for water limits pH to between 6 and 9.
The ffem pH test kit provides you with a means of monitoring water for pH rapidly. The test used is a colorimetric test using a pH indicator. The reagent induces a colour change in the sample depending on the pH of the water.
You can get fairly accurate readings of this colour change using the ffem match Android app. You will need to calibrate your Android phone first, and calibration standards are provided with the kit. Alternatively you can read semi-quantitative results using the colour card provided using your visual judgement, or using the app.
Since the kit contains chemical reagents, they are shipped by road, delivery could take between 15 and 30 days depending on the destination.
You will also need distilled water (not supplied with the kit) to dilute samples and to calibrate phones.
Disclaimer: While the reagent and the app are a fairly accurate way of estimating pH in drinking water, please have water sample tested at certified laboratories while deciding on the fitness of a water source for drinking purposes.
