Pillow Tanks for Rainwater Collection & Storage
Flexible Rain Water Storage Tanks are a unique and affordable option for storing and collecting rainwater. Designed to a feature a low overall storage height, these tanks can effectively be stored in small areas such as crawl spaces, basements, or under decks and patios. Pillow Tanks for rain water offer a great collection system, while keeping stored liquids safe and out of the way. Sizes start at 25 gallons and can be as large as 210,000 gallons, depending on your needs.
Standard design of most of our smaller pillow tanks features two standard fittings:
- Bulkhead Fitting located on the top of the tank for fill/discharge
- Bulkhead Fitting located on the side of the tank for fill/discharge
These dual fittings allow the customer to simultaneously attach both a fill and a discharge connection to the tank. For rainwater collection, common layout features a fill hose that stretches from a downspout to a tank fitting. Filters may be added in during this process to help eliminate leaves or other large times. Connected to the second fitting is a discharge hose and pump. Discharge hoses typically pump water to utilities or other equipment where water is intending to be reused.
Typical design for smaller rainwater tanks will look similar to the 75 gallon model shown on the right. On the top will be the first fitting, and on the side above the seam will be the second fitting. If required, alternative fitting sizes and styles can be added to meet specific requirements for your site.
There are many different reasons for storing and collecting rainwater. While many people intend to reuse collected water for utilities or sprinkler systems, others have created filtration systems that allow the water to be reused for drinking purposes. For this reason, fabrics used to construct the tanks can be either potable water grade or standard non potable grade. Whether you are looking to store extra water during droughts or reuse rainwater to save in costs, we have a tank that can work for you
Typical Uses:

Fabric: Fabrics used for rain water storage tanks can be made with a couple of different fabrics depending on the intended use of the water stored inside the tank. The standard fabrics used are polyurethane, polymer alloy, and E PVC coated materials. For reuse in spraying, washing or utilities, a standard water grade fabric will be used. If you will be using the rainwater for drinking water purposes, tanks will then be built with an NSF 61 and FDA rated fabric that can safely store potable water.
Contact Time: The contact time for your specific rain water storage tank can range depending on the material used for your tank. Contact times can vary between 1 and 7 years. It should be noted, however, that the contact times are not an indication of functionally, but rather a point in times where the fabric on your tank may start to change due to weathering or chemical process. This has no bearing on the longevity of a tank.
Fittings: Standard fittings on the tanks will feature a 2" fill and drain fitting, with options from 3/4" to 3" and 4" to 6" also available.
Optional Fittings
- Ports for Periodic Cleaning and Inspections
- Emergency Plugs
- Repair Kits
- Operational Spare Parts

Packaging: The packaging of these rain water storage tanks is largely decided based on the intended use and mobility requirements of your tank. We offer a variety of solutions based on your application including carry bags, totes, wooden treated crates, or as specified (additional costs may apply for unique packaging).
To help ensure the longevity and lifespan of your tank, ground cloths, berms, or rub pads can be placed underneath the tank to add additional abrasion resistance and ground protection.
