Why your pipes should wear a protective coat
The advantages of trenchless technologies during installation are obvious. However they require expertise, experience and special equipment from the installer and can place high demands on the installed pipe.
To ensure your trenchless installations last 100 years or more, opt for our specially designed PE 100-RC pipe range with an additional protective coat. Designed to protect your pipes from point loads and mechanical damage, they are ideal for the rehabilitation of old pipes via slip-, burst or split lining as well as horizontal directional drilling.
Wherever water mains or supply lines need to be replaced because they are either old and risk to fail or have become too small in capacity, it is often easier to insert the new pipe directly into the existing line. Rather than opening up roads and dealing with lots of excavation material, there are only two excavated shafts necessary per rehabilitated section, one where the pipe is inserted and one from which it is pulled through the host pipe.
In cases where the installation of new water mains and service lines requires undercrossing roads, streams or rivers, or there are a lot of existing underground structures, making it difficult, costly or simply impossible to bypass, new pressure pipes can be installed by applying horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technology. This can also be used for where pipe bursting or splitting cannot be implemented.
One of the oldest and simplest trenchless techniques in pipe renewal by sliplining. As the name indicates, a new pipe is slipped inside the existing line and pulled through following the host pipe`s alignment. Our coated PE 100-RC pipe systems have flexible flush joints which allow for minimal radial clearance between the host and new pipe, while the smooth inner surface provides optimal flow and partly compensates for reduced capacity.
