Ratna - Model BS 6323 Part V ERW -Pipes
This British Standard specifies the requirements for electric resistance welded steel tubes (ERW) used in mechanical and general engineering applications. BS 6323 Part V specifies the requirements for electrical resistance welded steel tubes. As the name suggests, this standard applies to tubes made of hot-rolled or cold-reduced steel, with circular, square, rectangular, or elliptical cross-sections.
In order to manufacture ERW pipes, steel strips are formed into tubes and then the edges are welded with electric resistance welding. In this way, a strong joint is created without the need for additional welding materials, and ERW pipes are commonly used in structural and mechanical construction applications like building frames, bridges, and pipelines.
A specific chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, tolerances, and testing requirements are specified for BS 6323 Part V ERW pipes. It is also important for these pipes to comply with the requirements of other British Standards for steel tubes, including BS EN 10255 and BS EN 10219.
It is generally recognized that BS 6323 Part V ERW pipes are designed to provide reliable and durable performance in a variety of engineering applications and are subjected to rigorous testing and quality control to ensure their suitability for use.
