• Use of 304 or 316 Stainless Steel components for all applications regardless of corrosion issues, temperatures or environments. The very sturdy and corrosion resistant automated weir cleaner has been installed under domes and oceanfront plants with highly corrosive applications, in extremely high temperature industrial clarifiers, at sites with heavy snowfalls on open clarifiers or in heavy solids thickeners.
• All brush arms are spring loaded to ensure a thorough cleaning of all effluent surfaces; no matter how irregular or "out of round" those surfaces may be.
• Individual Brushes are designed to make physical contact with all surfaces to be cleaned, even those surfaces under water. Because the brushes make physical contact with the surface, the cleaning capability is better than that of a hose or spray.
• Includes a 5 year Warranty on parts and 1 year Warranty on labor with the exception of the brushes.
• Brush life is designed to average 1 year with 24 hour / 7 day a week use. Brushes are specifically designed for Wastewater applications and UV resistance. Ford Hall uses 4 different brushes of differing materials to accommodate the individual clarifier/ thickener materials and the surface area that they are cleaning. Replacement brushes are recommended to be purchased from Ford Hall for these reasons.
• Enhanced Lock in/ Lock out design for customized cleanings; allowing for 24 hour / 7 day a week cleaning or intermittent cleaning based on customer need or application.
• Use of existing clarifier/ thickener drives; requires no additional power source or electricity. Attaches directly to the skimmer arm. The system does not adversely affect the drive of the clarifiers and thickeners and has a negligible increase in energy consumption but provides the added benefit of weir cleaning.
• It works in ALL climates. Ford Hall has installed on open clarifiers in hot applications such as Phoenix, AZ; Tucson, AZ; Las Vegas, NV and Mojave, CA. Ford Hall has also installed in cold applications like Detroit, MI; Eagle, NB; Amherst, NY and Pickering, ONT Canada. The system has been installed in highly corrosive environments under domes and industrial applications

• Elimination of confined space entry. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has defined clarifiers/ thickeners as confined spaces which fall under confined spaces standard (29 CFR 1910.146). OSHA definition of confined is a space that is not designed for continuous occupancy and is large enough to enter and work in but has limited or restricted entry or exit (i.e. you must stoop, use a ladder or crawl). Clarifiers, settling tanks, thickeners, manholes, sewers and large sump pits are included in OSHA`s definition of a confined space.
• Addressing of Total Suspended Solids (TSS) issues. With 24 hour a day cleaning, the solid sample readings will be even and eliminate the "spikes" or "peaks" associated with solids from the daily or weekly cleanings. Also, debris accumulations that can effect the sample readings will eventually "sluff off."  With continual cleanings by the systems, these accumulations are no longer an issue.
• Improvement of clarifier efficiency. Solid accumulations on the weirs can create "dead spots" in clarifiers, cause unequaled flows and reduce clarifier performance. All reduce the clarifier`s efficiency.
• Assisting of UV and chlorination disinfection systems; reduces UV cleaning. Accumulated algae and debris from the clarifiers will naturally slough off or break free during weekly or daily clarifier cleanings. This debris will "wrap itself around" the UV lamps; therefore causing the UV system to be less efficient and require the weekly cleaning of the lamps. The same principle is true for chlorination. Large chucks of algae and debris cannot effectively be penetrated, treated and result in poor performance. 24 hour per day / 7 day a week brushing of the system can keep debris particles small enough that UV and Chlorination systems can work at peak efficiency.
• Reduction of write ups and fines by DEQ or EPA plant visits. "Clean weirs" is one of the items on many of the DEQ or EPA check list for both clarifiers and thickeners. Build up of debris or algae on the weirs will affect all the items listed above, and therefore, is an item checked by visiting officials.
• Elimination of the need for manual cleaning of the clarifier and thickener weirs. Anyone with clarifiers or thickeners will attest that these tanks need cleaning. The Water Environment Federation recommends DAILY cleaning of the weirs as part of their Maintenance Checklist for Clarifiers. Manual cleaning of clarifiers and thickeners is unsafe, requires confined space entry and is labor intensive which is costly.  Operator safety is assured, confined space issues are addressed and man hours are freed up for better use of certified operator`s time with the system.
