Calgon Carbon - Model WPX -Powdered Reactivated Carbon
WPX is a powdered activated carbon produced from reactivated granular carbons. WPX powdered reactivated carbon is ideally suited for the removal of toxic compounds, dyes, and/or refractory organic chemicals from wastewaters. The high iodine number of WPX allows for adsorption of a wide range of organic chemicals present in industrial wastewater. WPX has also proved to be effective in stabilizing soil and sludge, and is used in remediation stabilization/ solidification processes. WPX powdered reactivated carbon is not to be used for Food Grade or Potable Water applications.
- WPX powdered reactivated carbon is ideally suited for the removal of toxic compounds, dyes, and/or refractory organic chemicals from wastewaters. Being a reactivated product- WPX provides a cost-effective alternative for wastewater purification.
WPX has been evaluated and approved by Zimpro Passavant Environmental Systems. Inc. for use in its PACT system, which combines biological treatment and carbon adsorption into one unit process. The high Iodine number of WPX allows for adsorption of a wide range of organic chemicals present in industrial wastewater. With a maximum ash content of 15 percent, WPX imparts less inorganic impurities than most competitive products and provides a higher quality product when wet air oxidation is used to recycle carbon back to the PACT system.
WPX isalso effective in removing mercury, dioxin. and other VOCs in flue gas. Simple injection directly into the flue gas stream can result in greater than 90 percent reduction in contaminant levels. The WPX is removed via the existing particulate matter device, and in most cases, can be landfilled as nonhazardous with the ash constituents. WPX has also proved to be effective in stabilizing soils and sludges, and is used in the stabilization/solidification process of remediation.
