ProUmid - Model MHG32 -Modular Humidity Generator for Precise Humidity Control
The Modular Humidity Generator MHG32 is engineered to provide controlled humidity within challenging instrument environments where rapid relative humidity adjustments in small volumes are necessary. Distinctively, it generates and manages relative humidity directly at the target volume, enabling fast and precise humidity control even at low flow rates. Available in maximum flow capacities of 100ml/min, 500ml/min, or 1000ml/min, this system accommodates chamber volumes ranging from approximately 20ml to 2000ml. Its modular design allows easy customization, making it adaptable for diverse applications. The unit incorporates a central control module that precisely regulates gas and water, transmitting them to an attached mixing unit where humidification occurs. This configuration eliminates complications from supply line dead volumes, ensuring prompt and accurate humidity adjustments. It offers a closed regulation loop with a humidity sensor inside the target volume, maintaining stable and precise humidity control, and integration options allow seamless assimilation as an OEM product.
The MHG32 system is designed for controlled humidity in challenging instrument environments where quick changes of RH in small volumes are required. The unique feature of the MHG32 is the generation and control of relative humidity directly at the target volume and thus enabling a fast and accurate response even at very low flow rates.
The MHG32 is available with maximum flow rates of 100ml/min, 500 ml/min or 1000ml/min and is suitable for chamber volumes from approx. 20ml up to 2000ml. The modular setup and easy adaption in combination with the broad temperature and humidity range makes the MHG32 a perfect match for all kind of applications. The large number of possibilities for customization allows for an easy integration of the MHG32 as an OEM product into analysis instrument solutions. Unique system architecture
The patented design of the MHG32 is different from a standard instrument for controlled humidity. Usually, a flow of humid air is generated inside the instrument and then transported via a heated transfer line to the target system or volume to be humidified. Such a configuration results in a slow regulation behaviour and a large dead volumes in the supply line.
To avoid such issues, the MHG32 was designed differently. The MHG32 consists of a central control unit and an external mixing unit. The central control unit monitors and regulates the flow rates of gas and water and transports the media to the mixing unit in separate lines. The humid air is generated inside the mixing unit, that is directly attached to the outer wall of the target volume.
Fast and precise control of humidity
By generation of the gas flow inside the mixing unitdirectly connected to the target volume, any potential issues by a dead volume in the supply line are completely avoided. The MHG32 allows for a fast and precisely controlled humidity even at very small flow rates.
Closed regulation loop
The humidity sensor is placed directly inside the volume to be humidified. A closed regulation loop ensures a precise, stable and fast controlled humidity and makes the system unsusceptible against perturbations.
The mixing unit is small but powerful and allows for precisely controlled humidity over the full temperature and humidity range.
Intergrated temperature control: MHG32 TC
The MHG32 with the option TC provides active temperature control with a heating system directly inside the mixing unit connected to the system to be humidified.
For precise humidity regulation at low flow rates: MHG32-100
The MHG32-100 is equipped with high precision flow controller for humidity regulation at very low flow rates up to 100ml/min.
External oder passive heating/cooling
The MHG32 is also available without active temperature control for applications around room temperature or in which a customer-specific heating/cooling system is used. The mixing unit can be externally heated or cooled in the range from 2°C to 95°C.
For applications without active temperature control, the unavoidable evaporation enthalpy when humidifying air is compensated by a heater inside the mixing unit, ensuring precisely controlled humidity up to saturation over the entire temperature range, even if the mixer head is only heated passively via heat conduction.
With the various available possiblities for customization, the MHG32 can be adapted to any target and allows for complete integration into instrument solutions as an OEM product.
Humidity sensor
The sensor interface is fully configurable. Any sensor with an analogue signal output can be connected.
Operation & software interface
The MHG can be operated localy via the front panel or by remote control via RS232 or Ethernet. The software interface is fully configurable and allows for complete integration into the control software of the target system.
Additional options
- Miniaturized T/RH sensor for tiny volumes and narrow spaces
- Additional temperature sensor for thermally separated samples (e.g. on a heat or cooling stage)
- Sensor antechamber for systems that do not allow to place the RH sensor inside the target volume
