PocketGeiger has X100-7 PIN Photodiode for gamma-ray detection, having large scale, effective sectional area (100mm^2), manufactured by FirstSensor corporation which has also supplied similar sensor for NASA's X-ray telescope. Generally, the efficiency of PIN photodiode sensor is extremely stable and has no age-related degradation, compared with GMT (Geiger–Müller tube) or scintillator crystal.
