RCRA
From Focus Areas - Waste/Other
The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)’s goals include protecting human health and the environment from the potential hazards associated with waste disposal, reduction of the quantity of waste generated, conservation of natural resources and energy, and ensuring that wastes are managed using environmentally correct practices.
Overview
RCRA regulates the management of solid waste, hazardous waste, and underground storage tanks containing petroleum products or certain chemicals, and requires plans for environmental emergencies, contingencies, and corrective actions. Hazardous wastes must be tracked for their complete life cycle, from generation until final disposal.
