Guidelines for Cold Storage Plant
- Authenticate anything, i.e., label all samples and instruments with the owner`s name.
- Make certain that any dangerous items are labelled. Make sure to keep needles as well as other sharp objects in the appropriate containers. All shattered glass should be placed in a sturdy, puncture-resistant box.
- In cold rooms, do not keep paper, cardboard, or other permeable organic compounds.
- Keep no combustible or other explosive items (particularly dry ice, liquid nitrogen, and other cryogenics) in this chamber, since it was not meant for this use.
- If absorbent material is utilised, it should be changed at least every week or anytime it becomes dirty.
- Lock the cold room door to minimise dampness on cold room surface and to save electricity.
- Caretakers do not access or maintain cold rooms; user is responsible for:
- After all operations, clean the bench worktops and shelves areas.
- Maintaining the place clean and organised.
- Observing appropriate cleaning habits.
- Removing stuff off from the flooring to allow for frequent cleanings.
- Cleansing the floor on a constant schedule.
- Picking up non-hazardous waste and bringing it to local garbage or putting it in the corridor for workers to pick.
- Toxic waste disposal in compliance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan requirements.
