Strathkelvin - Model RC400 -Respiration Cell
For Marine Biologists wishing to measure respiration rates of larger aquatic animals including mussels and fry. Chamber volume 730ml. Design of chamber ensures minimal distress placed on animal during the experiment. Minimal stirring required for measurement of respiration rates. No stirring required if the animal is mobile.
- Respiration rate measurements without requirement for vigorous stirring of the water
- Minimal disturbance to animals during measurement contents
- For respiration rate measurements of larger animals.
Originally developed to meet the requirements of a research project on the respiration rate of mussels when exposed to pollution, the chamber has a screwed lid which seals against an O ring. The lid has a central hole for the electrode holder (provided) and two tapered holes for the insertion of sealing bungs. There is a perforated false floor to separate the animal from the magnetic spinbar which is slowly rotated to mix the oxygen in the water. In use, the chamber would be placed in a constant temperature water bath, with a magnetic stirrer beneath it.
- The RC400 Chamber diameter 102mm
- Chamber volume c730ml
- Chamber clear acrylic
- Electrode holder black acetal
