Revision Control Systems provide the security needed to adequately track your facilities documentation as it exchanges hands. More importantly, Revision Control Systems identify who is in possession of the “master” documents at all times.
With a Revision Control System in place, as documents are retrieved from the library a log is generated to identify who removed the document. And as documents are returned to the library, the Revision Control System automatically compares the returning document against the previously removed version. If a difference is detected between the two, the Revision Control System automatically logs a new version of the document and archives the old version, creating a historical log of every document in your system.
