The Sand Pouring Cylinder from Sun LabTek is a specialized tool designed to determine the dry density of compact, fine, and medium-grained soil layers up to 50 cm thick. This procedure involves creating a circular hole in the ground where the excavated soil is collected, dried, and weighed. Subsequently, the volume of the hole is calculated by filling it with a standard, uniformly graded sand using the Sand Pouring Cylinder. This essential apparatus comprises a Sand Pouring Cylinder equipped with a conical funnel and shutter, a cylindrical calibration container, and a metal tray featuring a central hole. The Sand Pouring Cylinder is used for determination of the dry density of compact, fine, medium grained soils and for layers not exceeding 50cm thickness. A circular hole is dug into the ground, all the soil from within it collected, weighed and dried and the whole back filled with a standard uniform sand or fine gravel poured from a calibrated container for calculating the volume of the hole.
