The aspirator works by sucking in air from the atmosphere via an aspirator and adding it to the wastewater. The basic operation consists of the following steps:
- Air Induction: Aspiration makes air enter the system through the suction effect of the flow of wastewater.
- Oxygen transfer: Induced air is mixed into the wastewater, enabling efficient oxygen transfer to the water for aerobic microbial processes.
- Mixing: The aspirator also provides a powerful mixing action, so that the oxygen is spread out evenly through the wastewater and that the biological process is at the same level all over the treatment area.
- Continuous Operation: The system can boast continuous or batch operation, depending on oxygen needs and treatment design.
