Scrap steel leads in Grade 1 Lightweight scrap metal, Grade 2 New heavy-duty scrap metal, Grade 3 Old heavy-duty scrap metal, Grade 4 Shreddes scrap , Grade 5 Steel shavings, Grade 6 Bales, Grade 8 New lightweight scrap, Cooling pellets, DSD material.
Grade 1 Lightweight scrap metal
Material obtained from demolition sites and from industry, from used and unserviceable goods.
Less than 6 mm in size
Maximum dimensions: 1.50 x 0.50 x 0.50 m
Grade 2 New heavy-duty scrap metal
Waste material that accumulates during production and is in mint condition. Material that accrues from over production.
At least 3 mm in size.
Maximum dimensions: 1.50 x 0.50 x 0.50 m
Grade 3 Old heavy-duty scrap metal
Material obtained from demolition sites and from industry, from used and unserviceable goods.
At least 6 mm in size
Maximum dimensions: 1.50 x 0.50 x 0.50 m
Grade 4 Shreddes scrap
Old steel scrap cut to fragments not exceeding 200 mm for 95% of the load.
Free from incineration scrap, bulk density at least 0.9 t/m3
Metallic ferrous content at least: 92%
Grade 5 Steel shavings
Homogeneous or mixed lots of carbon steel shavings, free from an excessive amount of textured shavings. The shavings must be free from all contaminants such as non-ferrous metals, scale, grinding dust and heavily oxidised shavings or substances from the chemical industry.
Free from shavings, from castings and from automatic lathes etc.
Grade 6 Bales
New lightweight scrap steel, less than 3 mm in size, either compacted or in bales.
Grade 8 New lightweight scrap
New lightweight steel scrap with the exception of rolled/bound strips
Maximum dimensions: 1.50 x 0.50 x 0.50 m
Cooling pellets
Thermoformed quality, bulk density at least 2.3 tonnes / m3, spherical pellets, dust-free and dry.
Dimensions: between 20 and 50 mm in diameter
DSD material
Sheet steel is used to make packaging for liquid, semi-liquid and dry goods. The containers are furnished with a tin coating that is, on average, 2.4 g per square metre of tinplate. Tinplate packaging from household waste is collected by the Duales System Deutschland (DSD).
