SecarModel 41 -Calcium Aluminate Cement

Secar 41 was introduced to the North American market in 1987 in response to the refractory industry`s requirement for a low range cement with a lower iron content than Ciment Fondu.  This cement, containing 6% iron oxide, has also found applications in the civil and construction chemistry industries due to its more flowable rheology and longer open times as compared to Ciment Fondu, while still retaining the very rapid hardening properties known to calcium aluminate cements.

Secar 41 cement is one of six calcium aluminate cements available in North America.  Medium gray in color, it is lighter than Ciment Fondu. The clinker for this cement is prepared in a separate production facility using a reverberatory furnace in which the raw materials are melted to form the clinker.  The fused, very dense clinker is environmentally stable and can be shipped around the world in bulk without concern for degradation.  One site for grinding this clinker into cement is here in Chesapeake, VA where we grind Secar 41 to 4,000cm 2/g Blaine surface area.

Secar 41 cement is a hydraulic binder with an alumina content of approximately 47%.  Composed mainly of calcium aluminate phases, Secar 41 is ideally suited for refractory, construction chemistry or civil engineering applications.  The primary mineralogical phase is calcium aluminate (CaAl2O4), which imparts excellent mechanical strength to mortars and concretes.  With a 6% iron oxide content, Secar 41 is well adapted to refractory applications.  Secar 41 is also recommended for use in products requiring rapid hardening, resistance to abrasion, mechanical shock, intermediate temperature exposure or where other high performance properties are required of cement.

Secar 41 is available packaged in 94-lb. bags, 3,000-lb. SuperSacks, p-d (pressure differential) bulk trucks and p-d bulk rail cars.
