PRPModel DH-48 -Sediment Sampler for Suspended Sediment Collection

SHARE
The DH-48 Sediment Sampler is designed for the efficient collection of suspended-sediment samples, particularly in situations where a wading rod sampler suspension is employed. Constructed from a streamlined aluminum casting, this lightweight instrument measures 13 inches (33 cm) in length and houses a pint (0.47 liter) sample container, which is sold separately. Weighing 4.5 pounds (2 kg) inclusive of the sample container, the sampler is designed to attach to a standard 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) wading rod through a threaded connection at the top of the body. The sampling process requires orienting the intake nozzle into the current, maintaining horizontal positioning while being lowered at a steady rate from the surface to the bed of the stream, and then reversing the motion back to the surface. A 1/4 inch (0.635 cm) nylon nozzle comes standard, with options for a special epoxy coating tailored to chemical and trace metal sampling. Note that wading rods and bottles are not included and must be ordered separately if required.

This is a lightweight sampler for collection of suspended-sediment samples where wading rod sampler suspension is used. The sampler consists of a streamlined aluminum casting, 13 inches (33 cm) long, which partially encloses a pint (0.47 liter) sample container (sold separately). The sampler weights 4.5 pounds (2 kg) including sample container. A standard 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) wading rod is threaded into the top of the sampler body for suspending the sampler.

The wading rods come in 1 ft, 3ft. and 1.2m long sections and are sold separately. Extensions are available also. The wading sampler is supplied with one 1/4 inch (0.635 cm) nylon nozzle. The sampler can be supplied with a special epoxy coating for chemical and trace metal sampling applications. In the sampling operation, the intake nozzle is orientated into the current and held in a horizontal position while the sample is lowered at a uniform rate from the water surface to the bottom of the stream, instantly reversed, and then raised again to the water surface at a uniform rate. The sampler continues to take its sample throughout the time of submergence.
