Alfons Westermann was only 25 years old when he founded our company in late summer 1989. As a trained locksmith and state-certified mechanical engineer, he has been experimenting with new technical solutions for a long time. In November 1989, shortly after his appointment as the company’s new CEO, he presented his first motorized radial broom at the national Animal and Technology Fair in Frankfurt.

He initially produced his equipment in his parents` barn, later moved into an old dairy and built the first 400m² hall in 1995. Seven years later, he expanded again by 600 m². Further extension is not possible - at least not on this property. However, as the company was developing steadily, a new location was needed to enable further economic growth.

In 2007, the company moved to the Schützenhof in Meppen. The transport link close to the B70, a short distance from the A31 and the E233, proved to be a further advantage - for the customers, the sales department as well as the suppliers. All materials for frame construction came from companies in the Emsland region. At the time, the company already exported to more than 50 countries.

In 2014, Westermann purchased an adjacent hall complex and expanded the hall area to 7,000 m². On the approximately two hectares of land, additional space was created for administration, a film studio for live training, an exhibition area, and conference and visitor rooms.

In 2016, a gym for employees was built. In addition, a personal trainer offered exercise sessions and advice to employees several times a week.

Westermann developed and built its first vending machine in 2018. The NonStop Shop is app-controlled, enables cashless and gram-precise shopping and offers new ways of local supply.

In November 2022, a technical defect caused a devastating fire in one of the warehouses. Even the approximately 200 forces were unable to prevent the major fire from completely destroying the company premises. The damage was estimated at around ten million euros. Fortunately, no one was injured.

In 2023, Alfons Westermann acquired the entire site - the former headquarters of the Elektra Beckum company in Meppen. Administration, production and showroom are refurbished.
