The record of Institut Virion\Serion GmbH is a story of challenge and success. Now, after more than 40 years, Virion\Serion has evolved from a distribution company for CFT reagents - founded in 1978 - into a well-known and respected in vitro diagnostics (IVD) manufacturer with one of the largest infectious disease portfolios for diagnosis of viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic diseases in the world.

Inspired by dedication – this has always been the credo of Virion\Serion and its employees, right from the very beginning, and we will strive to meet this aspiration in the future, too. For more than four decades now, Virion\Serion has proven to be a reliable, competent and trusted partner for our customers worldwide. All processes, services and products are managed in accordance with the EU directive 98/79/EG, under a certified quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 13485, to ensure and maintain the highest quality of our products and services. All products are manufactured in Germany (Wurzburg) and are distributed by our own field sales force in Germany and a network of distributors and partners worldwide. The international sales activities are further strengthened by our office in China.

Furthermore, Virion\Serion engages actively in cutting-edge research. As an example, since 2021 we participate in the collaborative project “SeptoSurvive” funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project targets rapid pathogen detection and resistance screening.

Two Divisions – One Vision

SERION Diagnostics & SERION Immunologics

Virion\Serion is specialized in the diagnosis of infectious diseases and has two core competences: Development, production and marketing of high quality Immunoassays and production and distribution of infectious disease raw materials, including antigens, antibodies and plasma products. In order to focus on these core competences, two divisions have been created: SERION Diagnostics and SERION Immunologics. SERION Diagnostics is responsible for all IVD related activities such as our ELISA kits and CFT reagents while SERION Immunologics takes care of the distribution of IVD raw materials. Both divisions operate under the umbrella of Institut Virion\Serion GmbH.
