How the shredders are applied to processing operations.

Shredders successfully process materials for industries as diverse as chemical plants and metal-working facilities. They have been used for shredding foods, pharmaceuticals, plastics, rubber, wood soft metals and cardboard, among many other materials.

Shredders not only provide the first step for a processing operation, but can be used to free plant floor space and to lower hauling costs by reducing material volume. For example, some users immediately shred waste products, such as bags and cardboard boxes, to reduce the amount of space they need to store waste and to reduce waste hauling. Bulky 55- gallon drums can be shredded to almost one-tenth their original volume at rates as high as 60 drums per hour. Reducing waste volumes in this way produces a safer and healthier workplace, clears plant aisles, and reduces chances of rodent and insect infestation.

Shredders can also be used to reduce a plant’s off-spec materials to size that are suitable for recycling. For example, off-spec fiberglass can be shredded and the valuable fiberglass material can be fed back into the process line. Shredders can also reduce materials to a size that will fit into incinerators so the materials can be used to create heat and energy. For example, wooden pallets can be shredded and then used to fuel boilers.
