Two-piece Auger Systems are made up of the Handle,and a Bottom Auger section.An additional extension section is also available for lower depths.They are connected with a bayonet-style connection. The Auger body consists of an iron tube with two sharp bits at the base and a bow bracket on the top connecting to a rod. The diameter of the bits is slightly larger than that of the tube, so friction between the soil and tube is minimized. The Riverside Auger eats itself into the soil when it is pushed downward and rotated clockwise. Because of its closed sides, this style is not recommended for wet, cohesive soils.
