The JB COS is a specialized cosine receptor engineered for precise solar irradiance measurements. Its design focuses on achieving minimal light loss and an almost perfect cosine response, making it ideal for outdoor applications. The receptor integrates seamlessly with JB devices like the FloX and RoX systems, ensuring accurate hemispherical solar irradiance measurement. Its SMA-terminated fiber optic compatibility and high light throughput characterize its innovative design, particularly effective in the visible to near-infrared spectral range (400-1000 nm). With a cosine error of less than 10% at 80 degrees and dimensions of 10 mm in diameter and 30 mm in height, it provides reliable measurements. NIR diffusers are available as optional enhancements. The device requires radiometric calibration with an integrating sphere of at least 1 cm diameter and performs best with regular maintenance, depending on environmental conditions.
