Bentonite is an absorbent swelling clay consisting mostly of montmorillonite. Bentonite usually forms from weathering of volcanic ash, most often in the presence of water. It’s sodium based. It has a strong earthy odor and consists essentially of Hydrous Alumina Silicate with various impurities. Bentonite is available in lumps and powder form of various sizes, grades, and purity.
