This reduces the susceptibility to sensitization and intergranular corrosion, especially during welding. This steel is also known as austenitic stainless steel in layman’s terms. The basic composition of these two most crucial components provides excellent protection and strength to the instrument built with them. Just like stainless steel (304), 304L also has 18% chromium and 8% nickel in its chemical composition. 

Stainless steel 304L grade is also known as kitchen grade, as it is an appropriate application for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries since it is non-porous and simple to clean. The flanges that are made using this grade are commonly seen being used as equipment for joining pipelines, and valves that handle corrosive and chemical substances employ 304L flanges.
