With over 30 years of continuous development in membrane technology, Hydranautics has developed three generations of membrane fabrication technologies that are currently leading other membrane manufacturers, as shown in Figure 1.1. First-generation membrane technology, due to limitations such as high pressure and low permeate flow rate, has almost disappeared from the polymer reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membrane market. Second and third-generation membranes focus on increasing the specific surface area of the membrane separation layer, thereby increasing the microscopic surface area per unit effective membrane area and improving permeate flow rate under the same operating conditions. In practical use, the operating pressure required to produce the same permeate flow rate decreases, reducing operating costs and achieving energy savings.
