Metalloy - Model 304L -Stainless Steel Pipes
Stainless Steel 304L Pipes is an inferior carbon variation that does not require post-weld annealing. It has a high level of the strength recommended for compression fittings and hot working applications. SS 304L Pipes have excellent corrosion resistant property resist the reducing agent and acidic attacks; it offers long-lasting performance even in a harsh environment.
Physical Properties:
- Density: The density of SS 304L is approximately 8 g/cm³, slightly less dense than regular carbon steel but more dense than aluminum.
- Melting Point: The melting point of ASME SA312 Stainless Steel TP304L ranges from 1,400 to 1,450 °C, making it resistant to high-temperature deformation.
- Magnetic Permeability: Unlike other stainless steels, ASTM A312 TP304L is somewhat magnetic due to its ferritic structure, although less so than regular carbon steel.
Mechanical Properties:
- Tensile Strength: The tensile strength of SUS 304L is around 485 MPa, making it a robust material capable of withstanding significant force.
- Yield Strength: The yield strength is approximately 170 MPa, contributing to its ability to resist permanent deformation under stress.
- Hardness: Stainless Steel 1.4306 has a Brinell hardness of around 123, enabling it to resist wear and abrasion.
Chemical Properties:
- Composition: Stainless Steel S30403 primarily consists of iron, with 18-20% chromium and 8-12% nickel. The lower carbon content (maximum 0.03%) sets it apart from standard 304 stainless steel.
- Corrosion Resistance: Adding chromium and nickel imparts excellent corrosion resistance to SS 304L. It can withstand various corrosive environments and resists oxidation.
- Intergranular Corrosion Resistance: The low carbon content of 304L minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, thus improving resistance to intergranular corrosion.
Stainless Steel S30403 Pipes is essential for circumventing carbide precipitation and suitable to prefer in cryogenic temperature. It has aluminum content in it and resists the corrosion that occurs due to the presence of sulfuric and chloride acid. SS 304L Pipe is recommended to not exposure it to sulfide, ferritic chlorides, and nitric acid.
