Aanderaa - Model MOTUS -Stand-Alone Directional Wave Sensor
Turn your buoy into an intelligent data collecting platform with the Aanderaa MOTUS Stand-Alone Sensor. There are numerous ways of measuring Ocean Waves. At Aanderaa we have focused on three different types of measurement. One option is the MOTUS Directional Wave Sensor suitable for integration on different buoy types. It is intended for commercial as well as research use. The sensor processes wave data and is configurable to present parameters and wave spectrum directly. The sensor can be connected to a SmartGuard using the CANbus based AiCaP protocol. It can also be connected to a PC or third party systems through the RS-232 interface.
3 features makes the MOTUS Stand-Alone Sensor particularly suitable for integration to different buoys and loggers:
- For larger buoys, the response to short wavelengths may be suppressed. This can to some extent be compensated for by activating and tuning the build in transfer function.
- The sensor can be placed in non-ideal location on the buoy. The off-center compensation can be enabled to remove the errors that in some cases may be significant.
- Buoys may have magnetic parts affecting wave sensors and other sensors requiring a magnetometer or compass. The MOTUS can receive an external compass directly and utilize this to ensure correct wave direction data.
