Sustainability: Our philosophy
In the area of building technology, Compounds AG has implemented a pioneering concept in terms of ecology and sustainability. Heating and cooling are extremely environmentally friendly: excess heat from the production process is used efficiently for heating purposes, the downstream cooling takes place through heat exchange with water from the nearby Pfäffikersee.

Smart concept
Compounds produces technically sophisticated rubber compounds, films and profiles. Due to the strong heat generated during production, the systems must be cooled. The waste heat generated is primarily used to heat the production halls and offices. The excess heat is fed into Lake Pfäffikersee via heat exchangers in a closed circuit.

Ecological Footprint
The water from the Pfäffkersee is pumped out and led to the pumping station through a pipe on the bottom of the lake. The water is then channeled via a meteor water canal to Barzloostrasse. On the company premises, the lake water is used via heat exchangers to cool the machines on the one hand and to control the temperature of the rooms on the other.

In order to take into account the protection of the lake and the moor area, a high level of emphasis was given to ecological aspects in the routing and laying of pipes as well as the construction of the pumping station. In addition, an independent moor hydrologist represented the interests of nature conservation during the implementation phase.

Just as important as the responsibility towards Compounds AG employees is the responsibility towards our environment and society. We always try to increase efficiency through innovative solutions for our customers.
