Superior TankBolted Steel Storage Tanks for Potable Water

SHARE

In addition to other coatings, Superior Tank also manufactures hot dipped galvanized (HDG) bolted steel storage tanks. Our hot dipped galvanized bolted tanks are primarily used for storage of potable water, water for fire protection, crude oil and irrigation water. We also offer hot dipped galvanized storage silos. Superior Tank is one of the few manufacturers in the United States able to provide hot dipped galvanized bolted tanks for potable water storage.

Galvanized steel storage tanks are distinctively different in appearance than other steel storage tanks as they feature a gray/silver geometric pattern which results from the galvanization process.

During the galvanization process, the prepared steel tank panels are completely immersed in hot liquid zinc, which completely covers the surface and bonds with the iron in the carbon steel to form several iron/zinc alloy layers. This allows the zinc to become part of the surface of the steel, protecting the steel from both the atmosphere and corrosion. The hot dipped process provides better durability then then electrogalvanation process which provides a significantly thinner lay of zinc alloy. The formation of insoluble basic carbonate films on the surface of the zinc protects it against the environment. All of our hot-dipped galvanized storage tanks adhere to the requirements of ASTM A123, which outline the guidelines for coating thickness, finish, appearance and adherence.
