GEL - Tailor-made Solutions For Leachate
Solid Urban Waste Landfills generate a process fluid in the volume of stored waste, called “Leachate”, due to infiltrations and leaching phenomena. Leachate contains a lot of polluting substances and it is characterized by high concentrations of: Organic substances (COD, TOC, BOD5). Nitrogen Compounds (Ammonia). Heavy Metals. Salinity (chlorides and suphates).
Solid Urban Waste Landfills generate a process fluid in the volume of stored waste, called “Leachate”, due to infiltrations and leaching phenomena.
Leachate contains a lot of polluting substances and it is characterized by high concentrations of:
- Organic substances (COD, TOC, BOD5)
- Nitrogen Compounds (Ammonia)
- Heavy Metals
- Salinity (chlorides and suphates)
Limits for the discharge of those substances are very strict and traditional technologies commonly used are not able to provide complete solutions and satisfy both technical and economic aspects of the problem. This situation requires the application of innovative technical solutions able to offer best results against competitive costs.
GEL has developed a clean separation technique which provides a complete and economic solution to the problem of leachate treatment, using high pressure membranes.
Gel has been applying this innovative technology both in Italy and abroad and has obtained excellent results. The use of High Pressure Low Fouling RO plants, plug and play containerized modular plants with remote control, allows to:
- Treat any kind of leachate minimizing the noisiness, overall size and visual impact
- Obtain high results (recovery factor near to 90%) with an important reduction of the volume of leachate disposal and a cost reduction of 30-50% if compared to traditional systems
- Have a reliable and flexible technology able to face any sudden change of the effluent inlet
- Re-use the modules in any other landfill thanks to the simple installation of the plant (containerized modular plants)
