The CCOM220 Telephone Modem is an asynchronous modem used for communication between our IMP series of Data Acquisition Systems and an IBM® compatible personal computer over a public, switched telephone network. A Hayes-compatible modem is required at the computer end. The CCOM220 Telephone Modem uses voice-grade telephone lines at data rates up to 115.2 kbps between modem and data logger, although in practice, data transmission through phone lines is generally limited to 33.6 kbps. Power to the CCOM220 Telephone Modem is supplied by the data logger’s +12 volt supply. The wide operating temperature range and the low power requirements makes the CCOM210 ideal for remote applications.

The CCOM220 offers both Modem Enable (ME) and Synchronous Device Communications (SDC) modes. It also allows customers to set the number of rings before answering a call (requires a CSC532A Interface), and the CCOM220 includes a speaker.

The communications portion of the CPC400 or LOGGERNET software for the computer supports error checking, manual or automated dialing and can run unattended to take advantage of lower off-hour telephone rates.
