One of Thordon’s core values is the support of philanthropic initiatives in our local community such as funding scholarships for post graduate environmental engineering students at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. Within our company, we offer post secondary education Memorial Scholarships for children of our employees (winners receive $2,000, all others receive $500).

Thordon Bearings donated $150,000 to the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. The building 730 seat main stage theatre as well as a smaller 225 seat studio theatre. Finally, kids learning acting, singing or instrumental music have a place to perform to a large audience in Burlington.

Thordon Bearings donates both money and time to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum where our Chairman, Sandy Thomson, volunteers as Vice Chairman of their Board; other Thordon employees also volunteer their technical abilities.

Thordon Bearings also donated $500,000 in aviation equipment and inventory to Canadore College in North Bay, Ontario as part of a corporate re-structuring where the equipment was no longer required. Thordon has held annual fundraisers for the United Way of Burlington and Greater Hamilton since 1995. Other charities we support include local hospitals (i.e. Joseph Brant in Burlington) Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society, MS, and Women’s Shelters.
