Tidal Basin Revolutionary Technology
Collectively referred to as Tidal Basin™ technology, trū Shrimp deploys three existing patents, one pending patent, and three to-be-filed patents that far exceed the performance of traditional RAS technology to create the most stable and efficient shrimp growing environment in the world. trū Shrimp will utilize its technological capabilities and overall business model to produce the highest quality, most sustainable shrimp in the world.
Tidal Basin™ technology will enable trū Shrimp to pursue significant market share with the goal of becoming the largest domestic aquaculture producer in the U.S. The company’s integrated strategy is designed to maintain the quality of its product from genetics to consumption. While the company’s Balaton Bay Reef is already producing FDA-approved, market-ready shrimp, larger scale harbors will be built in order to meet consumer demand and increase market share.

Because of our intense focus on water management and water quality, the environment where our shrimp live is low stress and incredibly safe. Our facility has been disease-free since its inception, and we are committed to keeping our waters and shrimp free from all antibiotics.
In a 2018 taste test, consumers confirmed that products raised in a trū Shrimp facility were preferred over those currently found in grocery stores today. They especially liked trū Shrimp’s color, aroma, freshness, sweetness and plumpness.
Created by Texas A&M University, our patented Tidal Basin™ technology grows shrimp in a controlled habitat that recreates the natural ocean currents, focusing on reducing stress and creating an environment where shrimp can thrive. Beyond that, we are constantly removing and recycling shrimp waste and molts in order to create the cleanest and safest environment possible for the shrimp.
In order to create optimal living conditions for each phase of the shrimp life cycle, we’ve developed patented technology around water management. Along each step of the way, water is continually being monitored to provide appropriate oxygen levels, water flow, and temperature ranges for the shrimp.
From the very first day in our facility to the day they exit, we treat our shrimp with the utmost care. Shrimp temperature is then monitored and controlled as they make their journey to a restaurant or grocer near you!
Our system is built with sustainability in mind. trū Shrimp facilities allow for materials such as water, waste and shrimp molts to be removed and, in the case of water, reused through every step of the process.
Our stackable Tidal Basin™ innovation enables us to grow shrimp safely while reducing the amount of space needed. At our core, we believe it is our responsibility to minimize our impact on the earth’s resources and strive for solutions that are sustainable for future generations.Through advanced water management technology and recycling methods, we are reducing our water usage, waste byproducts and carbon foot print at every turn. Almost 100% of the water in our facilities is recycled. Advanced water filtration systems are implemented for each and every trū Shrimp location, allowing for waste to be continually removed and water to be used again.
