USA-Sludge - Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) System

Microscopic air bubbles are produced and mixed with the incoming wastewater. The air bubbles attach themselves to the contaminants, allowing them to float. This mixture of buoyant air bubbles with contaminants, floats to the surface and are removed by a skimming mechanism.  A percentage of the clean effluent is recycled and saturated with air, then mixed with the wastewater influent.

The dissolved air flotation system consists of four major components including air supply, pressurizing pump, saturator (retention tank), and flotation chamber.  The removal rates for FOG and TSS can be up to 95% by using a proper chemical pretreatment.
