UtilisSynthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)

SHARE

Using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data from satellites and turning it into large scale decision support tools for our customers is what we do. Why look at a single data point when you can get an entire system survey in one flyover? Our proprietary algorithms and highly educated staff of scientists and engineers are the key to our mission, to advance planet Earth’s resource resilience through SAR analytics.

Utilis was founded in 2013 and has been providing its satellite-based leak detection product to utilities since 2016. Whether you have a small or large utility, Utilis has a solution that can meet your needs. With no equipment or CAPEX spending necessary, adding Utilis to your infrastructure monitoring system is easy and affordable. Over hundreds of projects, Utilis customers have been able to sustain their current field labor effort while significantly increasing the number of leaks found, saving them water, electricity and money along the way.

UTILIS USES AERIAL IMAGING
Taken from satellite-mounted sensors, the Utilis algorithm detects treated water by looking for a particular spectral “signature.” The user is then presented with a custom report to incorporate into their decision support system.
Why use a satellite to acquire images?
As satellites orbit the earth at a very high altitude, they have the capacity to process 3,500 square kilometer images (varies by satellite), therefore covering entire infrastructure systems. In addition, our technology can be used independently of weather conditions and time of the day.
