VMax - Permanent Turf Reinforcement Mats
North American Green RollMax Systems’ permanent Turf Reinforcement Mats (TRMs) are ideal for high-flow channels, stream banks, shorelines and other areas needing permanent vegetation reinforcement and soil stabilization protection from water and wind. More economical and aesthetically pleasing than rock riprap, articulated concrete blocks or poured concrete, North American Green’s permanent turf reinforcement mats (TRMs) protect vulnerable areas with minimum maintenance and maximum durability. The VMax turf reinforcement mats are available with various performance capabilities and support reinforced vegetative lining development from germination to maturity.
RollMax Systems’ VMax Composite Turf Reinforcement Mats (C-TRMs) feature a patented three-dimensional matting structure that combines with a fiber matrix material for immediate soil protection and permanent erosion control. Our high-performance turf reinforcement mats (HP-TRMs) utilize patent-pending woven 3-D structures that are soil-filled for use in areas experiencing high stress and strain.
These extensively tested products provide maximum performance through all three phases of reinforced vegetative lining development: unvegetated, establishment and maturity. In addition, they:
- Can cost less than one-third the installed cost of rock or concrete
- Are a more attractive and effective “Green” alternative to rock riprap or concrete
- Are recognized as an EPA Best Management Practice (BMP) for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)

The VMax SC250 TRM has a 70% straw/30% coconut fiber matrix to enhance initial mulching and erosion control performance. Unvegetated, it reduces soil loss under shear stress up to 3.0 psf (144 Pa) and increases permanent vegetation performance up to 10 psf (480 Pa).
- VMax® C350® Permanent TRM
A 100% coconut fiber matrix supplements the VMax C350 TRM’s permanent three-dimensional netting structure. Unvegetated, it reduces soil loss under shear stress up to 3.2 psf (153 Pa) and boosts permanent vegetation performance up to 12 psf (576 Pa).
- VMax® P550® Permanent TRM
Our P550 TRM has a polypropylene fiber matrix augmenting the permanent netting structure. Unvegetated, the VMax P550 TRM reduces soil loss under shear stress up to 4.0 psf (191 Pa). The ultra-strong structure drives the vegetated shear resistance up to 14 psf (672 Pa).

The VMax W3000 TRM is the only multi-layered, UV-stabilized woven permanent product with mat strata providing zones for both root and stem vegetation reinforcement. It is designed to provide increased tensile strength up to 3800 lbs/ft, thickness and optimum open area for effective erosion and vegetation reinforcement against high-flow induced shear forces.
- TMax™ High-Performance TRM
The TMax HPTRM is woven especially for use with soil and seed infilled. This lighter-weight woven option is suited for difficult applications needing increased tensile and longevity. Once vegetated the TMax can handle permissible shears greater than 15 pfs
