A water softener systems removes minerals that cause water hardness, one of the most common water quality problems faced by a homeowner. Hard water destroys appliances, leaves fine soap suds in bathrooms and kitchens, and dries hair and skin. While more than 85% of the United States relies on hard water for cooking, cleaning and bathing, water softeners serve a vital purpose. A water softener saves you from cleaning prematurely broken kettles, flaky faucets, and soapy residue for hours and hours. Investing in a water softener saves you time, energy and money and protects your home and property.

Water softening Systems It is a filtration system that covers the whole house. It removes calcium and magnesium minerals that cause hardness from your water through a process called ion exchange. A water softener addresses one of the most common and devastating water problems: hard water. Hard water wreaks havoc on the modern home. Scale builds up in your pipes, clogging them and lowering the water pressure. Scale significantly shortens the life of appliances such as dishwashers, coffee makers and ice makers. Hard water destroys hot water appliances. The higher the temperature of the water, the more calcium and magnesium will solidify and turn into solid deposits inside your hot water heater. If you live in a hard water area, it may sound like your kettle is popping popcorn. This is because the scale has attached itself to the heating element. As the heater temperature rises and the tank expands, the calcareous rock deposits encrusted on the heating elements begin to crack and stretch. Hard water-borne scale is the culprit for that popcorn popping sound.

Laundry without water softener requires extra detergent to keep it from looking dirty. It will come out with stripes and stains from your dishwasher. Fine foam accumulates on your shower curtains and your soap and shampoo will not foam. Bathing in hard water makes your skin itchy and dry, making your hair lifeless and sticky. The sheer amount of time, energy and money required to clean up the harmful side effects of hard water is dizzying. A whole house water softener is the solution to the scourge of water hardness.

A water softener works through a process called ion exchange, which removes calcium and magnesium from the water. When hard water enters the mineral tank, it flows through a bed of spherical resin beads. These plastic beads, usually made of polystyrene, are charged with a sodium ion. Resin beads are anions, meaning they have a negative charge. Calcium and magnesium minerals have a positive charge, which turns them into cations. Because opposite charges attract each other, the negative charge of the minerals is attracted to the positive charge of the resin beads. As the hard water passes through the resin, the beads capture the mineral ions and remove them from the water. When the bead captures the mineral ion, the sodium ion is released. The resin column strips all hardness of the water as it passes through the mineral reservoir and the softened water flows into your home.
