Zohal - Wet Scrubber for Electroplating Industry
A wet scrubber is a highly efficient air pollution control device used in the electroplating industry to remove harmful pollutants such as acidic fumes, metal particulates, and toxic gases generated during electroplating, anodizing, and other surface treatment processes.
- Material: FRP
- Power (hp/ kW): up to 100 HP
- Usage: Electroplating Industry
- Efficiency (%): 98%
- Orientation: Vertical
- Brand/ Model Number: ZOHAL
- Scrubber Type: Medium Energy Scrubber
- We Provide: Consultation, Installation & Servicing
- Minimum order quantity: 1 Piece
How It Works:
- Contaminated Air Intake: Polluted air containing acidic mists (such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, or nitric acid), metal fumes (such as chromium, nickel, or zinc), and other hazardous emissions is drawn into the scrubber through a fan or duct system.
- Scrubbing Process: The air is forced through a scrubbing liquid, usually water or a neutralizing chemical solution, inside the scrubber chamber. This liquid captures and dissolves pollutants.
- Gas-Liquid Interaction: Depending on the type of scrubber, the air may pass through packed beds, spray nozzles, or venturi sections, ensuring maximum contact between pollutants and the scrubbing liquid.
- Pollutant Removal: The harmful substances are neutralized, absorbed, or chemically reacted with the scrubbing solution, reducing their concentration in the air stream.
- Clean Air Release: The purified air, now free from toxic emissions, is safely released into the atmosphere through an exhaust stack.
- Waste Disposal: The contaminated liquid, now containing dissolved pollutants, is collected in a sump or tank. This wastewater is treated before being discharged to comply with environmental regulations.
Types of Wet Scrubbers Used in Electroplating:
- Packed Bed Scrubbers – Ideal for removing acid mists and gaseous pollutants using high-surface-area packing materials.
- Venturi Scrubbers – Effective in capturing fine particulates and heavy metal fumes using high-velocity air-liquid interaction.
- Spray Tower Scrubbers – Best suited for low-pressure applications with moderate pollutant removal efficiency.
Advantages of Wet Scrubbers in Electroplating:
- High Removal Efficiency – Effectively eliminates acidic gases, heavy metal fumes, and cyanide vapors.
- Worker & Environmental Safety – Reduces exposure to harmful chemicals, ensuring a safer workplace.
- Regulatory Compliance – Helps industries meet pollution control standards set by environmental agencies.
- Customizable Designs – Can be tailored based on airflow volume, pollutant type, and process requirements.
- Effective Cooling & Humidification – Reduces the temperature of hot gases and increases humidity, preventing dry particulate emissions.
Applications in Electroplating:
🔹 Chrome Plating – Removal of hexavalent chromium (Cr⁶⁺) mist.
🔹 Nickel & Zinc Plating – Capturing metal fumes and acidic vapors.
🔹 Anodizing & Pickling Processes – Controlling emissions from acid treatment.
🔹 Cyanide-Based Processes – Neutralizing toxic cyanide vapors.
By using a wet scrubber, electroplating industries can ensure clean air emissions, regulatory compliance, and a healthier work environment, making it a critical component of modern plating facilities.
