The European sprinkler installation code EN12845, Annex K and Insurers of Europe code CEA 4001, 1.4.3.2 requires that after max. 25 years pipes and sprinklers shall be inspected in order to verify that the sprinkler system is fully operational – i.e. sprinkler heads will operate and distribute water as intended, and the pipe work will deliver the requested water pressure and flow at any point in the installation.

A number (typical 20 samples) of sprinkler heads shall be removed from the sprinkler installation and inspected to verify:

  • Operation
  • Operation temperature
  • Variation of K-factor
  • Spray obstacles
  • Lodgement
  • Thermal sensitivity

With more than 60 years of expertise and experience in sprinkler manufacturing and testing, GW Sprinkler A/S is happy to be able to offer an EN12845 / CEA 4001 compliant 25-year sprinkler inspection service.

Sprinkler samples are inspected and managed by our quality department skilled personnel, using the factory calibrated specialized test lab equipment and procedures – all assessed under the company ISO 9001 certification.

The testing will require all sprinkler samples to be operated, and the sprinkler parts are normally being scrapped after testing.

In order to prevent damages to the sprinkler samples that could give a false/wrong test result, the sprinklers shall be carefully removed from the sprinkler pipe work by an authorized sprinkler installer, and individually packed/protected. If individual sprinkler traceability is called for, each sprinkler shall be clearly marked/labelled with its reference (e.g. number, location etc.)

Every inspection “project” is thoroughly documented in a test report, with detailed references to each sprinkler sample, and supported by photos showing any findings.
