For the calculation of air quality pollutant emissions, we use the most up-to-date, detailed emission factors. For example, in order to allow for the uncertainty relating to published diesel NOx emission factors, CERC has taken steps to improve on published emission factors using real world emissions data.

For the estimation of greenhouse gas emissions, we use methods and emission factors laid out by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Whether the focus is on toxic pollutants or greenhouse gases, emissions from relevant activities are calculated and stored using the EMIT software package, for ongoing analysis or dispersion modelling.
