Barge Degassing Site Service

SHARE

ETS Degassing operates a bargedegrading facility located in the Port of Duisburg, which is recognized as the world's largest inland port. This facility provides a permanent solution for the environmentally-friendly degassing and purging of inland vessels, barges, and tankers. Prior to its establishment, vessels in Germany had to travel to the Netherlands for compliant gas disposal. Now, the Duisburg site accommodates ships up to 135 meters in length, addressing ADN compliance and fostering reduced emissions in a key logistics hub. The facility, covering approximately 4,000 m2, adheres to ADN guidelines and is certified under DIN ISO 45001/9001/14001 standards. Equipped with nitrogen vaporizers, it allows for purging and inert rendering as needed. This site addresses a critical gap in Germany, offering treatment for product classes IIA, IIB, and IIC, ensuring safety without open flames or odors. This progressive development secures Duisburg's position as a leader in sustainable and compliant maritime operations.

ETS Degassing barge degassing site in the Port of Duisburg

It is important for inland waterway vessels, barges, gas tankers and motor tankers to be able to dispose of residual gases so that they can be safely loaded with new substances and products. Additionally, ships of all kinds must be gas-free for maintenance or repair.

Before the commissioning of our degassing site in Duisburg, shipping companies had to send their vessels to the Netherlands for the disposal of residual gases in an environmentally-friendly and ADN-compliant manner and for the degassing of vessels. Thanks to ETS Degassing, the Port of Duisburg is now the first port in Germany to have a solution for the environmentally-friendly degassing of inland vessels and the disposal of residual gases.

Thus, the Port of Duisburg as an internationally important logistics center is also becoming a pioneer for degassing, safe processes, environmental protection and sustainable operations.

Before ETS Degassing’s vessel degassing site was commissioned, there was no possibility in Germany for inland vessels to dispose of their residual gases in an environmentally-friendly and legally compliant manner. This is now possible in compliance with ADN at the degassing site of ETS Degassing at the Duisburg port of Duisport Ruhrort. Inland waterway vessels, motor tankers and gas tankers of all nations with a length of up to 135 meters can berth at the degassing site at km 2.5 on the Rhine.

The facility covers an area of almost 4,000 mand is approved in accordance with ADN guidelines. ETS Degassing as the operator is certified in accordance with DIN ISO 45001/9001/14001. A purging site with nitrogen vaporizers enables the flushing and rendering inert if required.
