VTU - Basic Engineering Services
The most important documents of basic engineering are the Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID). Process engineering, international standards, works standards, requests from production, start-up and shut-down, unusual operating situations, safety aspects, process control, service friendliness, pipeline classes, instrument costs and many other items must be taken into account in preparing the P&ID. These are the core documents passed on to implementation planning (detaild engineering).
The CAD processing of the drawings can be in the form of simple drafting, for example in AutoCAD, or object-oriented software tools for plant planning may also be used. VTU uses Comos PT and SmartPlant P&ID to create piping and instrumentation diagrams.
The scope of work for basic engineering is specified in detail with our customers. Usually, the results of our planning work within a basic engineering project are reported in the following documents:
- basic flow sheets
- process flow sheets (process diagrams)
- descriptions of processes and methods
- mass and energy balances (material flow lists)
- media lists
- risk analyses
- batch scheduling (components layout diagrams)
- plant layout plans
- hazardous and explosion risk area plans
- piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID)
- equipment lists
- equipment specifications
- process-related specification of measurement and control devices
- specifications of valves and fittings
- insulation specifications
- safety data of pure substances
