Ramky - Biomedical Waste Management

Ramky was the first private sector player to establish a Biomedical Waste Management facility in Hyderabad. More facilities were soon set up by the Company in other states of India. Today Ramky handles waste from over 12,000 health care establishments covering about 175,000 beds. The main modes of biomedical waste destruction that Ramky employs are (i) Sterilization using autoclaves (ii) Incineration of a part of the waste received. Waste is collected 365 days a year from hospitals and taken to assigned Waste Management facilities where it is adequately and safely destroyed. All facilities comply with statutory regulations. They are provided with air pollution control devices. Needles are sterilized and destroyed. The facilities operate in partnership with SembCorp Environmental Management Ltd., Singapore.
