Certified Land Management Services
What is CLM?
CLM can be used by any land manager to certify all on farm land management and animal welfare activities. Landholders participate in a 2 day workshop, where they develop a Management Plan to guide their activities for improving productivity and environmental and animal welfare outcomes. These plans are tailored to meet the needs of each property.
CLM complies with the ISO14001 international standard, so gives the user a basis for both national and international recognition for their land practices. Each year the plan is audited by an ALMG accredited auditor and every third year landholders participate in a workshop to update their soil, plant and biodiversity skills and management plans.
Why is CLM important?
The processes of food and fibre production are becoming as important to consumers as the products themselves. The quality of the produce, the way it has been grown and the effect on the environment are becoming increasingly important in the purchasing process and the ability to achieve a profitable return.
Recent weather events only reinforce consumer concerns about sustainability and climate change and these concerns are not just domestic but global, so having your production methods and animal welfare management certified not only helps to alleviate these concerns but can lead to differentiation and even increased revenue.
What are the key benefits?
CLM can deliver improved environmental performance and animal welfare which are growing issues and help to reassure consumers that these are concerns for farmers too. Because environmental concerns go beyond the boundaries of your land, CLM allows you to actively demonstrate your contribution to regional priorities.
More immediately, as well as earning you recognition for the contribution you are making to sustainable land management, CLM helps to improve farm productivity and profitability. It can also help you meet and share learnings with other innovative land managers.
