Civil Works

MULTISECTOR - Among SP’s most significant large-scale civil works the multi-sectorial Tana Beles project is particularly noteworthy. This project involved the resettlement of 250,000 people over an area of approximately 130,000 Ha and called for the complete urbanisation of 100 villages, 300 km of roads, 320 km of water pipelines, 2 dams, 80.000 Ha of agricultural areas together with a hospital, clinics, airport, and the design and construction of Almu Town.

TUNNELS - It is also worth pointing out the approximately 40 km of hydraulic tunnels in the recently completed Beles and Gibe II hydropower projects excavated using Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) and the 15 m diameter tunnels being excavated now using traditional methods for the Gibe III plant.

HYDRAULIC WORKS - An important recent project is the tourist marina of Porto Romano on the Tiber river near Rome including 200 berths, yacht club and other related facilities. Another curious work was the hydraulic design of the Millennium Park in Nigeria inaugurated by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Abuja.

NATO - The firm has also designed residential compounds for NATO to be constructed in Sardinia.
